Doctor of Homeopathic Medicine
The Homeopathic Medical Centre of Canada Inc. offers a
three year part-time diploma program in Classical Homeopathy. Classes are held
two weekends in each month, for ten months every year. Entry streams into the
program take place twice a year, in January and September. The program is
designed to educate the student in the fundamentals of medicine and science,
while giving a comprehensive education in Homeopathic medicine.
This program is unique in its field as it meets the requirements that
are set out by Homeopathic associations and also includes the courses that the
college believes are necessary for practicing Homeopathy.
Upon successful completion of this program and the clinical externship, the students will have
earned a diploma in Homeopathic Medicine. The graduated students will then be able to use the suffix DHM after their names.
Legality of Homeopathy
The Regulated Health Professions Act passed in 1991, allows Homeopathy to be
freely practiced in Ontario. The term Doctor is strictly reserved for specified
health professionals. Homeopathy in Ontario is unregulated. There has been talk
among Homeopaths that Homeopathy will soon be regulated in Ontario, but at
present there are no concrete plans. We encourage our students to register with
the various associations that exist for Homeopathic practitioners. One of these
associations is the North American Association Of Homeopaths (NASH). NASH is an
Independent professional body for trained Homeopaths in North America. Once a
Homeopath is registered with NASH they will be able to use the suffix R S Hom
(NA). This suffix means that the Homeopath is registered with NASH.
